Healthy eating is all about eating smart and enjoying your food. A number of us never really of what the food they eat does to their body, other than just need to be full at the time. The key to healthy eating is to eat the right amount of calories for how active you are so that you can balance out the energy you consume and what you use.

A number of us eat more than what the body needs. When that happens the energy you do not use is stored as fat and that is how you add weight. So what then? Nutritionists recommend that you eat a wide range of different types of food to ensure that you are getting all the nutrients your body needs.

Healthy eating is a journey and it will take some time before you stick to it. Don’t worry if you can’t get it right the first time, nobody does. Figure out what works best for you and do that. If you think making a weekly meal plan will help you through your journey, power unto you; if you are thinking monthly meal plan; even better. The key is to remember it’s a journey.

Most people think of what they want to remove instead of what they should be adding. Nutritionists say most people eat healthy it’s the potions and timing that is wrong.  Look at your diet and think of what you should add to balance it.  It's recommended that men have around 2,500 calories a day and 2,000 calories a day for women.

When working on your meal plan think of adding more fiber, more fruits at least 4 potions per day, vegetables, more fish at least 2 potions per week. Cut down on sugar. This might be easier said than done. But you should know that the consumption of sugary things causes tooth decay and also increases your risk of obesity. This is might be difficult to quit overnight, but believe me, you will love the results. Work your way up.  You can replace it with natural honey or instead of tea /coffee in the morning; make a smoothie. You can keep your favorite fruits or berries in your freezer and just be ready to blend in the morning. Do that for a month you will realize you actually don’t even need sugar anymore.

The other thing you should watch is salt. Too much salt raises blood pressure. Most of the foods we buy already contain enough salt, so if you need to add more; a pinch is all you need.

Be mindful of the food you eat. Take time to actually chew and enjoy your food.  Eat when you need to eat not because others are eating. Finally, be active go for long walks or yoga if you are not looking at getting into something strenuous.
