‘’I'm going to eat healthier this year’’ is one of those well-intentioned goals, but really not as easy as it sounds. We make the resolution to eat healthier every year, but most of us give up somewhere along the way. So what happens?
If the big idea is to make healthier choices when it comes to what you eat, then how about breaking it down to goals you can actually achieve. Most people have more success with healthy eating when it’s broken down to something as simple as a weekly meal plan. If you still think that a week would be a challenge, start with your breakfast.
What is on your breakfast table that you definitely don’t need? Am sure we all know the things we shouldn’t be eating. Start there. Remove one unhealthy item on your plate and replace it with something healthier every day. Then move to your midday snack. Instead of a cookie, replace it with an apple.
Alternatively, think of food groups. What should you start eating more off or less of? So that would be something like;
- Eat more vegetables
- Reduce carbs
- Eat more fruits
- Reduce Sugar Intake
- Drink more water and reduce booze (Limit booze to weekends)
Whichever one of these plans work for you, remember the idea is to eat healthier. Work your way there step by step and with things you can achieve so that you do not lose momentum. Also, think about reducing the number of times you eat out.
