I am sure you have all heard/read about the wonderful benefits of Black Seeds or otherwise known as Black cumin seeds. People use it to treat digestive ailments and respiratory problems, but studies also show that they contain cancer-fighting agents. To use black seed, heat raw seeds and grind them before ingesting.
So what is the simplest way to add black seeds to your diet? Looking at your Instagram feed am sure you have seen loads of recipes popping up, but if you need something simple how about tea? We start conversations with tea. What’s more Kenyan than that! And this is caffeine-free and has a lot of health benefits.
Place the seeds in a pan and turn the stove to low. Stir the seeds every few minutes. You will know that the seeds are done when they taste bland. If they still have a harsh taste, they need to be heated longer. When they are done grind them up in a spice grinder until they are powder-like. Now you are ready to make your tea.
- 2.5 cups of water
- 2 Tbsp of black seeds
- Sweetener (I prefer it nothing - If you are detoxing, avoid all sweeteners)
- Place the water in a pan along with the black seeds.
- Bring the tea to boil and allow to boil on high for 1 more minute.
- Remove the tea from the stove and strain the seeds off and enjoy.
