I am sure you already know Flaxseeds are good for you. These nutritious seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants. To make these nutrients bioavailable for your body, grind them before using them. You can either use a coffee grinder, spice grinder or a regular blender.
If you choose to use a blender like me, pour 1 cup of flaxseed into your blender. Secure the lid on top, and select the finest grinding setting on your blender. Grind for 3-10 minutes until it is ground to your liking.
Your flax is now ready for use. Ground flax is pretty versatile and you can easily add them to your routine. Add them to your breakfast bowl, smoothies, porridge, bake with them or add to salads. Get creative and have fun with it!
Ground flaxseed is best used immediately to maximize nutrient absorption, but you can also use it for at least 2 months if refrigerated (frozen). Whole Flaxseed and can be stored at room temperature for at least 2 years. If your ground flaxseed tastes bitter, that would mean it is spoilt and you should discard it. Flax should typically have a nutty taste.
